After a week off, Michigan State returns to the football field Saturday against Notre Dame in East Lansing. Taking on the Fighting Irish will be Michigan State’s biggest test of 2017 by a wide margin, and much of that responsibility is placed on QB Brian Lewerke.
The sophomore quarterback has been more than serviceable in the first two games of the year against Bowling Green and Western Michigan. But he definitely hasn’t played a perfect game. Lewerke has struggled with consistency and getting off to slow starts. His accuracy has also been an issue, leaving him open to injuries.
