Brian Lewerke is watching for now.
Bachie, a linebacker, and Willekes, a defensive end, earned spots on the Bednarik Award watch list Monday, which goes to the nation’s best college football defensive player.
Lewerke, a third-year starter at quarterback, was not one of the players listed on the Maxwell Award watch list that goes annually to the nation’s best all-around player. He was on the preseason Maxwell watch list last season, then struggled and suffered an injury to his right arm midseason that further limited his throwing ability.
