EAST LANSING — Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio said quarterback Brian Lewerke was not examined for a potential concussion after taking a hit to the helmet during the Spartans’ 37-34 loss to Illinois on Saturday.

Dantonio said Lewerke also was not examined after the game.

“No, we didn't go through any protocol. We looked at him very quickly,” Dantonio said during his news conference Tuesday.
