Michigan State true freshmen tracker: Career firsts on both sides of the ball

EAST LANSING - Through the first two games of the season, Michigan State has already played 10 true freshmen.

That total surpasses the nine the Spartans played in the entire 2016 season, which was a record during Mark Dantonio's tenure as coach.

Michigan State is relying on newcomers all over the field and starting one true freshman in cornerback Josiah Scott, who recorded his first career interception in last week's 28-14 win against Western Michigan.
