Michigan State football gets major love in Phil Steele’s 2019 Top 25 projection

As the seconds ticked off the clock to end the 2018 season with a 7-6 loss to Oregon, Michigan State’s offense received some harsh criticism, and deservedly so.

The Spartans finished the season with a 7-6 record and one of the best defenses in the nation, but the mediocre, at best, offense, led to almost each loss.

In fact, the Spartans were in games against Michigan, Ohio State, Arizona State, Northwestern, Nebraska and the Ducks with a chance to win each, but the offense couldn’t score late in those games which led to disappointing defeats. You could argue that the Spartans were an average offense away from an 11-1 season.
