EAST LANSING -- The focus throughout the offseason was on Michigan State's returning three-headed monster at running back.
But in the first outing of the season, quarterback Brian Lewerke outrushed them all.
The Spartans' sophomore signal caller ran for a team-high 69 yards on eight carries in Michigan State's 35-10 win over Bowling Green on Saturday.

Lewerke threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns and led the team in rushing.
He became the first quarterback to lead Michigan State in rushing in a game since Kirk Cousins, whose 75 yards against Michigan in 2009 was tops among Michigan State players that day.
