Pharrel Payne’s return sparks Maryland basketball’s win over UNLV in Vegas

The Terps opened their stay at the Players Era Festival by rallying for a 74-67 win against UNLV early Tuesday morning before an announced 3,581 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Trailing by as much as seven points early in the second half, Maryland (5-1) used a 10-2 run over the middle portion of the stanza to take a lead it would not relinquish. The defense also shut out the Runnin’ Rebels for a 4:12 stretch late in the game.

Senior power forward Pharrel Payne returned from a one-game injury absence to score a game-high 20 points and collect eight rebounds.
