Despite what looked at one point like it would be a down year, Maryland field hockey was one game away from capturing a national title in 2017. The team’s postseason run stood up as the best by a Terps squad in 2017-18.
This year, Missy Meharg’s team will play its usual daunting schedule. Maryland’s 20-game regular-season slate, announced in full Thursday, includes eight of the 15 other teams to make the NCAA Tournament, including reigning undefeated champion Connecticut. The Terps will play 11 teams that finished last season ranked.
The season starts with three games on the West Coast against Pacific, California and UC Davis.
