For the second straight game, LSU's offense produced without Josh Smith or Zach Watson to beat Texas 13-4, and got a dominant performance on the mound from Zack Hess.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander gave a glimpse the type of starting pitcher he could be for LSU.

Hess, a former reliever, turned out a better outing than his first start of the season, pounded the strike zone to record a career-high 10 strikeouts. The hurler also earned his first win of the season, giving up two runs on five hits and tossed 99 pitches, retiring the last eight batters he faced.
