College football's 2020 season will be remembered for the uncertainty and lack of participation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the Big Ten's announcement on Sept. 16 to start its delayed season on Oct. 24, 39 FBS teams are sitting out this fall (or only play a few games). UConn was the first program to not play fall sports this fall, followed by the entire 12-team MAC on Saturday, Aug. 8. Conference USA's Old Dominion and the entire Mountain West decided not to play fall sports on Monday, Aug. 10. The Big Ten and Pac-12 decided to cancel their fall seasons on Tuesday, Aug.
