Take a chill pill and give it a number of months — but the “genius” word cropped up Sunday after Shanahan’s third San Francisco 49ers team whipped the Rams, 20-7, at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
Only it wasn’t Shanahan who inspired the G-word but the defensive coordinator he hired three years ago, Robert Saleh, whose unit’s dominance sent San Francisco (5-0) into Week 7 as the NFC’s lone unbeaten team.
“Coach is a football genius,” Niners defensive lineman Solomon Thomas said.
