LEXINGTON — Kentucky basketball’s 2019-20 season could not have started with a higher-profile matchup.

For just the second time in college basketball history, the teams ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 met in a season opener. But after taking down No. 1 Michigan State, the No. 2 Wildcats will have to wait some time for another chance at a marquee opponent.

Kentucky’s next game against a Power 5 conference team does not come until Dec.
