Wake Forest Fires Danny Manning

Danny Manning’s time at Wake Forest is finished. It’s a miracle he lasted this long.

The former National Championship winner from Kansas spent six seasons coaching the Demon Deacons. They went to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 but failed to finish above .500 over the last three seasons. Under Manning’s tutelage Wake Forest was 78-111 with a 30-80 record in ACC play.

Despite the lackluster record, Manning was assured he still had a job after Wake Forest was eliminated from the ACC Tournament. Even though the school reportedly owes Manning $15 million as a part of his buyout, they were willing to pull the trigger shortly after Chaundee Brown, the Demon Deacons’ top returner, announced he was leaving the program.
