Before the regular season tips off Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, the March Madness Twitter account created a bracket (how appropriate) to determine the preseason player of the year. As expected, the Big Blue Nation turned out in full force.
Tyrese Maxey started as an 11-seed and climbed all the way to the finals where he met Cassius Winston, the prohibitive preseason favorite to win the award. After three days of voting, it went down to the wire.
Maxey narrowly edged out Winston, earning 51 percent of the 29,762 votes cast. Well done, BBN. Well done.
