Ten Kentucky athletes, one staffer positive for coronavirus in latest round of testing

LEXINGTON - In the latest round of COVID-19 testing among Kentucky athletes, 10 players tested positive for the virus.

UK tested 416 athletes from all sports between August 7-19 using polymerase chain reaction testing. Ten of those athletes tested positive for active infection. Among the 259 athletes who had newly returned to campus during that timeframe, nine tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies during their initial screening process, indicating past infection.

Of the 143 staff members given PCR tests from August 7-19, one tested positive.

The round of testing covers the period where the general UK student body returned to campus.
