NCAA extends recruiting dead period again, now through July 31

In a move that was expected to come, the Division I Council Coordination Committee has officially extended the recruiting dead period through July 31.

This isn’t the first time this has happened, either. The NCAA initially extended the idea period up through May 31 before eventually moving it back to June 30. Now, all in-person contact between coaches and recruits is off-limits until the beginning of August.

Here’s what the NCAA had to say in a statement put out on its website:

“The extension maintains consistent recruiting rules for all sports and allows coaches to focus on the student-athletes who may be returning to campus,” said Council chair M.
