Kentucky in the top half of Jay Bilas’ Sweet 16 rankings

Yesterday, ESPN’s Myron Medcalf ranked Kentucky No. 11 out of the 16 teams left in the NCAA Tournament. Andy Katz had the Cats even lower, at No. 13, on his list. Today, Jay Bilas has Kentucky sixth in his Sweet 16 rankings, but even then, said the Cats’ potential to win the title is dependent on whether or not PJ Washington plays, which is still to be determined.

“This one is simple. Kentucky is top-five if PJ Washington is healthy and playing. Kentucky is not among the top 10 without him.”

Kentucky’s win over Wofford to advance to the Sweet 16 may not have been pretty, but Bilas said the fact that the Cats were able to hold off the Terriers without PJ is way more impressive than most might think.
