Kentucky football moves 2020 season opener away from new Kentucky Derby date

LEXINGTON - Kentucky football's 2020 season opener is moving.

The home game against Eastern Michigan at Kroger Field has been moved from Saturday, Sept. 5 to Thursday, Sept. 3. The move comes after the Kentucky Derby was postponed from May to Sept. 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

UK has not announced any changes to its own schedule or fall plan due to the pandemic. Football players began reporting to campus for summer workouts earlier this month.

The opener will be broadcast on the SEC Network with game time to be announced at a later date.
