Stat of the Day: A Trio of American League Leaders

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Oakland Athletics, 6–5, Monday night, bolstered by Adalberto Mondesi’s 10th triple of the season and Jorge Soler’s 45th home run.

Mondesi hit his first three-bagger since July 5, driving in the Royals’ first run in the opening frame and taking sole possession of the American League lead in that category. Soler left the yard in the fourth, using a 447-foot solo shot to extend his own single-season franchise record and match Mike Trout — out for the season with injury — for the American League lead.
