Chiefs officially total six draft picks after comp choices announced

The NFL announced that the Kansas City Chiefs will receive an additional pick in this year’s draft late Friday afternoon.

The compensatory choice was given to the Chiefs due to the offseason departure of then-free agent quarterback Nick Foles, who went on to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. 32 compensatory picks were awarded across the league.

As it stands now, the Chiefs own the following six picks in the draft:

  • Round 2 (54th overall)
  • Round 3 (78th overall, via WAS)
  • Round 3 (86th overall)
  • Round 4
  • Round 6
  • Round 6 (209th overall)

Many thought the pick would be as high as a third-rounder due to Foles winning the Super Bowl MVP award, since the formula takes into account salary, playing time and postseason honors.
