Rashaan Melvin returns to practice, Colts confident Ryan Kelly will return on Thursday

There can be no doubt that this is not what Ryan Kelly had envisioned for his second season in the NFL. He suffered a broken bone in his foot during training camp that required surgery and cost him the first four games of the regular season. A hamstring injury forced him to miss practice in the middle of the season and threatened his chances to play in another game. Most recently, Kelly suffered a concussion against the Tennessee Titans that has held him out for two more.

The Colts are confident that he will be cleared by an independent neurologist and will be able to return to the field for Thursday Night Football (although they were confident last week as well) but missing more than six games this season certainly wasn’t a part of the plan.
