INDIANAPOLIS — Another NFL hiring cycle has come and gone.

For the second straight year, only one opening was filled by a minority, Washington’s Ron Rivera, leaving just four minorities among the NFL’s head coaching ranks for the second consecutive year.

The past two hiring cycles have put the NFL’s lack of diversity among its coaching and general manager ranks squarely under the microscope. The Rooney Rule, put in place in 2003 to require teams to interview at least one minority candidate, will likely undergo modifications, Steelers owner Art Rooney II told the NFL Network on Tuesday that the reasons for the lack of minorities in head coaching spots has been and dissected.
