Colts hope to translate run-stuffing into team success

INDIANAPOLIS — There's a bit of irony in the Colts' fourth straight 0-2 start.

Since head coach Chuck Pagano arrived in 2012, Indianapolis has been obsessed with stopping the run. It hasn't often successful in that endeavor.

But, through the first two weeks this season, the Colts rank second in the NFL allowing an average of just 2.5 yards per attempt. It's the embodiment of the "defend-every-blade-of-grass" philosophy Pagano has made one of his mantras.

And it's had precious little impact on the team's overall success.

Despite the superb run defense, Indianapolis ranks 29th in the league with an average of 31 points surrendered and 28th with an average of 381 yards allowed.
