Colts 2020 position-by-position: Tight ends remain essential in Frank Reich scheme

After a banner 2018 for Indianapolis Colts tight ends, many were expecting even bigger things for them in Frank Reich’s tight-end friendly offense last season. But when Andrew Luck unexpectedly retired weeks before the start of the season, those expectations dissipated quickly.

While newly minted starter Jacoby Brissett enjoyed a solid first half of the season, his production fell off in the second half — and the tight ends’ production with it.

After delivering 108 catches, 1,216 yards and a league-best 21 touchdowns in 2018, Colts tight ends’ production dropped to 86-967-7 last season.

The player whose year-to-year production suffered the most without Luck was Eric Ebron, who in early November began making public pleas for a bigger role in the offense.
