CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Illinois State women's basketball team fell in its Missouri Valley Conference opener to UNI, 82-71, in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Friday afternoon. The Redbirds drop to 3-1 (0-1 MVC) on the year while the Panthers improve to 4-4 (1-0 MVC).
Senior Juliunn Redmond led all scorers on the day with 21 points while also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Redshirt freshman Maya Wong shot 3-of-4 (75.0%) from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line to finish with a career-high 15 points.
