Idaho Vandals football builds longest win streak in 23 years; ISU rolls, too

Only four teams in college football’s top division boast longer winning streaks than the Idaho Vandals, who opened the season with a 28-6 defeat of Sacramento State on Thursday in Moscow.

The Vandals have won six straight, including the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to cap last season. This is their longest winning streak since 1994.

Quarterback Matt Linehan led the Vandals with 14-of-19 passing for 163 yards and two touchdowns but tossed two interceptions. Running back Aaron Duckworth added 19 carries for 142 yards and a touchdown, plus 49 receiving yards.

The Vandals limited Sacramento State of the Football Championship Subdivision to 190 yards and eight first downs.
