Report: Proposed NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement Includes 17 Regular Season Games, 14 Playoff Berths

The current collective bargaining agreement between the NFLPA and the owners expires after the 2020 season. With that deadline looming on the horizon, talks are heating up between both sides as they attempt to avoid another lockout. Last night, Adam Schefter reported that the current CBA being proposed by the owners would include the following changes to the current NFL machine:

  • The implementation of a seventeen (17) game regular season.
  • The reduction of preseason games for each team, from four (4) to three (3).
  • The addition of one more wild card berth per conference in the NFL Playoffs, with only one team (as opposed to two) in each conference receiving a bye to the divisional round.
