Due to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady making his third consecutive Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl LIII, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will be going to the Pro Bowl in his stead. Watson was eligible to take Brady’s place in the AFC Team since he was chosen as a Pro Bowl alternate in case a player at his position withdrew due to injury or was still in the playoffs when the Pro Bowl rolled around.
Watson will be going to his first Pro Bowl in his second year in the league and a year after suffering a season-ending ACL injury.
