The Green Bay Packers head into the 2021 NFL season in a difficult salary cap squeeze. The Packers re-signed many of their own players who could have departed via free agency during the past year including Aaron Jones, Kevin King, Kenny Clark and David Bakhtiari. The result is that the team deferred a lot of cap money down the road to make sure the team fits under the reduced cap for this season.
The team also is waiting to see if quarterback Aaron Rodgers returns and if he does, will the team have to extend or rework his contract which may kick even more cap money down the road and make it more difficult to sign other potential free agents.
