INDIANAPOLIS — For the "Elis," new New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur and GM Dave Gettleman maintain it's a clean slate.
Eli Manning, the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback coming off arguably his most trying season, has experience that Shurmur clearly values as he arrives with new schemes and a new vision for the Giants.
"He’s very smart," Shurmur said from the scouting combine of the 37-year-old Manning, whose ironman streak of 210 consecutive starts was snapped last season by the awkward benching from Ben McAdoo. "Quarterbacks along the way have had to learn other offenses and get accustomed with new schemes — we call it apple, they call it oranges.
