CLEMSON FOOTBALL: Throw the records out in rivalry game

Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant, shown here looking to pass against The Citadel on Saturday, says: “You don't ever want to be on the losing side of this rivalry (with South Carolina), because you have to live with it 365 days a year. I'm going to try to keep the (Tigers' winning) trend going.”

CLEMSON — It is officially rivalry week as the No. 2 Clemson Tigers (10-1, 8-1 ACC) travel down I-26 to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (8-3) in the annual Palmetto Bowl Saturday (7:30 p.m., ESPN).

The two teams are on different paths, but each with upward trajectory -- Clemson attempting to make a third straight trip to the College Football Playoff and South Carolina looking to improve its bowl destination with a marquee win over the second-ranked team in the nation.
