Yesterday was a surreal day, and today feels no different. The human experience is characterized by highs and lows, ups and downs, joy and sorrow, life and death, the duality of all things. To understand this is simple – to accept it is a far greater ask. And when tragedy occurs, as it did yesterday morning when a helicopter carrying retired NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his 13 year-old daughter Gianna, Orange Coast College baseball coaching legend John Altobelli, his wife Keri, their daughter Alyssa, Mamba basketball team coaching assistant Christina Mauser, and pilot Ara Zobayan crashed into the Calabazas hills in Southern California, prematurely claiming the lives of all aboard…we find ourselves searching for meaning in the face of the senseless, the cruel hand of fate consigning nine souls to the abyss far too soon.
