As Michael Alford patiently waited in the tunnel to greet the Florida State football players last Friday, the Florida State athletics director had a choice spot to watch as Seminoles fans stormed the field to celebrate the team’s 45-38 win over Florida.
The win over the rival Gators was made all that much sweeter by the fact that the victory lifted FSU (9-3) to its best regular season since 2016.
It’s been quite the turnaround in Year 3 under coach Mike Norvell, who inherited a program mired in mediocrity with a depleted roster that would need rebuilding and a fan base quickly losing patience with falling father out of the national picture.
