It’s officially Beat The Gators week in Tallahassee and the Florida State Seminoles have opened as a 3.5 point favorite over the Florida Gators in Gainesville. Florida State is coming off a 71-point victory over Delaware State while Florida is coming a 29-point victory vs UAB.
In a battle of unranked 4-6 teams both teams are fighting for bowl eligibility. The last time these two met in which both squads had losing records was in 1959; a game that resulted in an 18-8 victory for Florida in Gainesville.
That game was only the second meeting between Florida and Florida State on Florida Field as most older fans know the first six games of the rivalry were played in Gainesville because they were afraid to play us anywhere else.
