UF freshman Andrew Nembhard in line to replace Chris Chiozza

Point guard Chris Chiozza is gone, leaving the Florida Gators without their all-time assists leader.

Coach Mike White might be able replace him with an even sounder, slicker passer — first-year freshman Andrew Nembhard.

“He'll have a chance to be in the conversation to be one of the better passers in college basketball,” White said Tuesday during the team’s media day. “Who knows how many assists that means, how many highlights he produces, how many minutes he'll play. I'm not sure.

“But that is his gift.”

Nembhard shared his gift at Montverde Academy, leading the Eagles to the national championship last season with 13 assists and no turnovers during the title game.
