Kasey Hill needed a superlative defensive effort Saturday night, so the Florida senior point guard figured why not channel one of his favorite NBA stars of the past.
He wore a John Starks jersey to the Amway Center as he anticipated his defensive matchup with Virginia leading scorer London Perrantes in the Gators’ second-round NCAA Tournament.
The inspiration worked, with Florida holding Virginia to its lowest point total since 2013. The Gators rolled into the Sweet 16 following a 65-39 rout of the Cavaliers.
