Gators RB Lorenzo Lingard receives NCAA waiver, eligible immediately

The former Orange City University High standout and University of Miami transfer will be available during the 2020 season as UF coach Dan Mullen’s team looks to replace Lamical Perine, the Orange Bowl MVP and a fourth-round pick by the New York Jets.

Lingard, the No. 1-ranked player in the Orlando Sentinel’s 2018 Central Florida Super60, rushed for 4,478 yards and 69 touchdowns in high school and was the state’s Gatorade Florida High School Football Player of the Year.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Lingard played in seven games as a first-year freshman and was redshirted in 2019 due to a knee injury.
