GAINESVILLE — The Florida Gators are ready to end Georgia’s stranglehold on its longtime rival, at least in the estimation of SEC media members.
The league announced Wednesday media around the conference picked the Gators for the first time since 2010 to win the SEC East Division. If coach Dan Mullen’s squad meets expectations, it would deliver the school its first East title since 2016 and end a three-year reign by Georgia.
The Gators edged Georgia by 11 overall votes — 624 to 613 — and received 53 first-place votes to 43 for coach Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs.
