Duke fans will recall that JJ Redick surprised the NBA by leaving a promising Philadelphia 76ers team to join a rebuilding New Orleans Pelicans.
New Orleans is promising to be sure but Redick is now 35 and while he’s in superb physical condition, he’s still 35 and even Lebron James’ game is eroding in his 30s. Time catches everyone.
The thing is the wait in New Orleans might not be as long as people think. Pelicans exec David Griffin pulled off serial coups after Anthony Davis demanded a trade and robbed the Lakers blind. He parlayed that trade into other players and pics and signed Redick.
