Not surprisingly, David Cutcliffe has mixed emotions as the New York Giants bench one protege, Eli Manning, for a younger one, Daniel Jones, who Cutcliffe coached at Duke.
The rookie has made a solid impression in practice and pre-season and the two knew each other before he was drafted since Eli and brother Payton used to come to Durham to work with Cutcliffe, who coached them at Mississippi and Tennessee respectively.
That’s a really great thing for the Giants and while there’s no guarantee this is a permanent arrangement - they could be just resting Manning for all most of us know - the best thing about this situation is that Manning is a pro’s pro, and he’ll work with Jones to make him the best quarterback he can be because he wants his team to win.
