In Saturday’s ACC action, Pitt hammered Northern Illinois 89-59 and Syracuse whipped Rider 87-52.
Offense has been a problem for Pitt since before Jeff Capel arrived and we’re not saying it’s all solved now.
But he’s probably pretty happy with how things turned out offensively against Northern Illinois. Pitt hit 48.3 percent from threes and 50 percent overall. Impressively, the Panthers had 26 assists on 30 shots. Ithiel Horton hit 5-10 from three by himself. Justin Champagnie had 22 points and 10 boards.
Pitt also forced 18 turnovers and held NIU to 37.7 percent overall.
Syracuse had a hot-shooting night too, hitting a program-record 15 threes.
