DETROIT -- A long September at Comerica Park has mercifully come to an end.
The Detroit Tigers lost their final home game of 2017 to the Minnesota Twins 10-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Twins leave town with a healthy lead in the American League wild card chase and on the verge of clinching a playoff spot.
The Twins outscored the Tigers 39-12 in the four-game sweep. The two teams will meet again next weekend in Minneapolis to close out the 2017 regular season.
The Tigers have lost seven in a row and are 4-20 in September, a stretch in which they've allowed 10 or more runs nine times.
