Tarik Skubal's exit in Game 5 of the ALDS still haunts (and is going to haunt) Tigers fans for a while. His 99 pitches through six innings wasn't a postseason high — he got through 7 2/3 on 107 in Game 1 of the Wild Card — but AJ Hinch thought his starter had completely emptied the tank, so he trusted his bullpen to keep the Mariners to a run and his offense to tack on a few more.
But then it all came crashing down in the blink of an eye. Kyle Finnegan gave up the tying run the inning after Skubal was pulled.
