Former Tigers outfielder Tyler Collins signs with Royals, report says

DETROIT -- Tyler Collins, who spent parts of four seasons in the Detroit Tigers outfield, has signed a minor-league contract with the Kansas City Royals, according to reporter Chris Cotillo.

Collins got married earlier this week near his hometown in Texas. Next month, he'll head to Arizona for spring training with a new club for the first time in his career.

Originally selected by the Tigers in the sixth round of the 2011 draft, Collins was once considered a potential starter because he had power from the left side, decent speed and the ability to play all three outfield positions.
