Detroit Tigers squeeze by Cincinnati Reds, 3-2, on C.J. Cron home run

After both starters turned in strong starting pitching performances Sunday in Cincinnati, it was Detroit Tigers first baseman C.J. Cron who came up big.

Cron delivered a two-run home run in the ninth inning for a 3-2 victory that clinched the Tigers’ series at Great American Ball Park.

Cron’s homer came off Michael Lorenzen, who gave up a homer to Miguel Cabrera a day earlier. On Sunday, Cabrera worked a leadoff walk in the ninth against Lorenzen, battling back from an 0-2 hole while Lorenzen was throwing 100 mph.
