Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera has 2 herniated discs in his back

Detroit Free Press

In the least surprising news of the Detroit Tigers season, first baseman Miguel Cabrera has been diagnosed with two herniated discs in his back.

Cabrera received the diagnosis after undergoing an MRI on Sunday afternoon.

Manager Brad Ausmus said treatment for the injury is to be determined and did not believe surgery was an option.

“I won’t say it’s not, but I don’t believe it is, based on what I’ve been told,” he said.
