Top Red Wings pick Moritz Seider should have made NHL debut. Now he's back in Germany

With the hockey world on pause because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, this is an opportunity to check in on Detroit Red Wings prospects.

This edition takes a look at defenseman Moritz Seider. He has the distinction of being the first Wings player drafted by Steve Yzerman. Seider, who turns 19 on April 6, is in his first year of pro hockey in North America. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound blue liner has two goals and 20 assists in 49 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. With the AHL season postponed since March 12, the same day the NHL postponed its season, Seider has returned to his native Germany.
