Red Wings rally late but home losing streak reaches 11 in loss to Penguins

Detroit — Third-period goals from Filip Hronek and Dylan Larkin were not enough to end the Red Wings losing streak at home on Saturday night, as a penalty for too-many-men with under two minutes remaining iced the Red Wings in a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins and extended the winless drought to 11.

Detroit entered Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh as losers of 10 in a row, the first two losses coming in overtime while the latter eight were dealt in regulation. The Penguins were without captain and two-time Conn Smythe winner Sidney Crosby; the Pittsburgh center was placed on injured reserve in November after deciding to undergo hernia surgery.
