Place yourself in the mind of Detroit Pistons coach Dwane Casey and allow yourself to wander through his many coaching decisions.
With training camp one week away, one of the biggest question marks entering training camp is the backup center position. Detroit has a training camp battle between veteran wing Joe Johnson and upstart big Christian Wood. This decision could factor into rotational decisions ahead of the Oct. 23 opener.
It’s not an easy decision for Casey, who was instrumental in luring Johnson to the Motor City. After landing a tryout off a MVP and championship in the Big3’s 3-on-3 basketball league, it’s hard to tell what’s left in Johnson’s tank, except that he can still score from all three levels.
