NFL cuts preseason in half; Lions will play Jets and Dolphins

The NFL will cut its preseason in half and push back the start of exhibition play so teams have more time to train following an all virtual offseason made necessary by the coronavirus pandemic, a person with knowledge of the decision told the Associated Press.

For the Detroit Lions, that means games at New England on Aug. 13 and home against Buffalo on Sept. 3 will not take place.

Remaining will be a home game against the New York Jets on Aug. 20 and a road game against Miami of Aug.
